S.Ossetian Protests Unauthorized Flights over Conflict Zone

Special Affairs Minister of breakaway South Ossetia Boris Chochiev raised concern over, as he put it, ?frequent violations of the air space over the South Ossetian conflict zone by unidentified planes [flying] at low altitude,? the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported on April 26.

In this regard Boris Chochiev sent a letter to Goga Khaindrava, the Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues, commander of Joint Peacekeeping Troops Marat Kulakhmetov, Head of the OSCE Mission to Georgia Roy Reeve, as well as to the Russian side.

?During this year military observers from the Joint Peacekeeping Troops have observed 14 unauthorized flights over the conflict zone. The South Ossetian side assesses such actions as provocative, which promote the aggravation of the situation in the conflict zone,? the letter reads.
