Russia Warns NATO Not to Expend on CIS

Russian Foreign Ministry?s spokesman Alexander Yakovenko said on April 20 that relations between Russia and NATO will significantly worsen in the event that even one of the member countries of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) joints NATO, Interfax news agency reported.

?I want to say that relations between Russia and NATO are developing in a very constructive manner and in a favorable political environment. But it is a very fragile issue. Everything can be destroyed in the event thar sharp, unconsidered steps are taken; for example, in the event that an invitation is extended to one of the CIS countries to become a NATO member,? Aleksander Yakovenko said in an interview to the Russian First TV Channel.
