Tbilisi Agrees to Re-Locate Troops in Abkhaz Conflict Zone
Georgian side agreed on April 7 that its Interior Ministry troops, stationed in the village of Ganmukhuri, in the Abkhaz conflict zone, will be pulled back 100-150 meters, following the weekly quadripartite meeting in the village of Chuburkhinji, in the Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia.
?Our troops will move back by 100-150 meters, but this will not pose a threat to our residents in the village,? Kakha Ardia, chief of the administration of Zugdidi, located in the western Georgian region of Samegrelo, said.
The Georgian Interior Ministry deployed its special purpose units in the village of Ganmukhuri in January, after the village was raided by an unknown armed group.
