Tbilisi Expects No Breakthrough in Geneva Talks
Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili said on April 6 that Tbilisi does not expect any breakthrough from the forthcoming Georgian-Abkhaz talks in Geneva scheduled for April 7-8.
?However, this is the first attempt to restore talks with the Abkhaz side, that is an important fact,? Zourabichvili told reporters on April 6.
The Georgian delegation led by State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Goga Khaindrava has already left for Geneva to participate in the Georgian-Abkhaz talks, which will take place under the aegis of the UN with the participation of the UN Secretary General?s ‘Group of Friends for Georgia,’ involving representatives from France, Germany, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and the United States.
The Chairman of the Tbilisi-based Abkhaz government-in-exile will participate in the Georgian-Abkhaz talks as the Personal Representative of the President of Georgia.
The Abkhaz delegation will be represented by de facto Foreign Minister Sergey Shamba, while the Russian delegation will be led by Deputy Foreign Minister Valerie Loshchinin.
