Georgia Denies Entry to Russian Spy Plane

Commander of the General Staff of the Russian Air Forces Boris Cheltsov said Georgia denied overflight to the Russian long-range reconnaissance aircraft A-50 (NATO codename Mainstay), RIA Novosti and Itar-Tass news agencies reported.

The overflight was to be the part of the ongoing maneuvers of the air forces of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The training started on April 5.

Boris Cheltsov said that two A-50 aircraft will participate in the maneuvers. ?One will conduct a flight over Belarus. It was planned that another would have been used in the Armenian airspace; however, Georgia did not let it [the A-50 aircraft] through its airspace,? Commander of the General Staff of the Russian Air Forces stated.
