Shevardnadze Wants to Meet Opposition
President Shevardnadze called on the opposition parties today to hold meeting and discuss upcoming parliamentary elections.
?I advise [the President?s] opponents to keep ties with the President. I am always ready to cooperate with the opposition in order to secure free and fair elections. I do not consider them [opposition parties] as my enemies,? Eduard Shevardnadze said in his radiobroadcast on September 15.
He expressed confidence that pro-presidential election bloc For New Georgia will win the elections. President also said that he hopes, ?the opposition will also succeed in the elections.
