Assistant to Russian MP Hoists Separatists’ Flag on North Pole

(Tbilisi, May 22, 2003. Civil Georgia) As the Abkhazian “Apsni Press” agency reports, on April 14 assistant to the member of the CPRF (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) faction of the Russian State Duma Alexander Trubitsin and chief editor of the “Soviet Russia” newspaper Jana Kasyanenko hoisted the “state flags” of the separatist regime and put a capsule, containing an address of the separatist leaders to the world’s nations, on the North Pole.

This was done during a polar expedition, organized by the CPRF faction.

Apsni Press agency also reports that on May 21 Alexander Trubitsin “officially presented” the Sukhumi regime’s prime minister Raul Khajimba the flag. One flag was left on the North Pole and the second one returned to Sukhumi.

Trubitsin also delivered to the Sukhumi side a letter of congratulation of the faction’s leader Genadi Zyuganov to Vladislav Ardzinba, in which the Russian MP congratulated the Abkhazian side with successful completion of the action. Khajimba also thanked the Russian side for erecting the flag on the North Pole.

Last week the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Security Council of Georgia protested against improper mentioning of the separatist regime in the Russian official papers, as well as against improper interpretation of the Shevardnadze-Putin Sochi agreement and its partial and “selective” implementation.
