Socialists Propose to Confiscate Illegal Incomes

(Tbilisi, May 21, 2003. Civil Georgia) Zakaria Kutsnashvili of the Socialist Party proposed today in the parliament to confiscate the incomes that are proven illegal. A proposal was made during the as the draft on Prohibiting Legalization of Illegal Incomes was discussed.

The article was removed from the draft law by the Constitutional Court. In this regard Zakaria Kutsnashvili suggested creation of a special financial monitoring group, which will be in charge of revealing illegal incomes.

Adoption of the law has moved higher on the agenda after the visiting CoE experts said Georgia should undertake urgent measures to combat money laundering.
