Police Arrested Tbilisi City Council Member

(Tbilisi, May 9, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Police detained late last night member of the Tbilisi City Council – Sakrebulo Shalva Ogbaidze for illegal possessing the hand-gun.

Ogbaidze, which is the member of the opposition United Democrats party, told the reporters that his arrest is the provocation. “I have no weapons at all,” he added.

In one of the sessions of the City Council Shalva Ogbaidze criticized the capital city’s police leadership for corruption and inactivity to fight against increased crime in Tbilisi.
