Russia Reports US Spy Plane Overflight above Georgia
(Tbilisi. February 28, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Russian media sources report today quoting Russian Defense Ministry official that the US U-2S, which is the surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft, flew over Georgia.
Georgian Defense Ministry does not confirm the report. “I cannon make any comment, as we do not have any information confirming the report,” Gia Zhorzhikashvili, Georgian Defense Ministry’s Deputy Spokesman told Civil Georgia.
Spokesman of the Russian Air Forces Col. Alexander Drobishevski said “the U-2S spy aircraft flew over Georgian territory, 20-25 kilometers away from the Russian airspace.”
