Soldier-on-the-Run Shot Dead

(Tbilisi February 4, 2003. Civil Georgia)Giorgi Gagoshashvili, soldier of the 22nd Brigade of the Georgian Ministry of Defense deployed in Akhaltsikhe, South Georgia, was shot dead on February 3.

At the news briefing today Georgian Defense Minister Davit Tevzadze said that Gagoshashvili together with other 10 soldiers escaped from the Brigade last night.

Georgian Military Prosecutor’s Office reports that soldier-on-the-run was shot dead in pursuit by the law enforcers. Murder suspect is arrested.

One escaped soldiers is detained. Police continues to search for the remaining 9 soldiers.
