UN Envoy, Abkhaz de facto Foreign Minister Met in Sukhumi
De facto Foreign Minister of Abkhazia Sergei Shamba and Ambassador Heidi Tagliavini, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Georgia, discussed on September 17 the issues of settlement of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict in the capital of breakaway Abkhazia, Sukhumi.
“If the Georgian-Abkhaz meeting in Tbilisi [scheduled for September 23] yields particular results, Abkhazia will ensure its safety and further war between Abkhazia and Georgia will be excluded,” de facto Foreign Minister of Abkhazia Sergei Shamba told reporters after the meeting with Heidi Tagliavini.
As the Abkhaz news agency Apsnypress reports, the Abkhazian delegation is getting ready for the upcoming Georgian-Abkhazian meeting over security guarantees and non-restoration of the war between the conflicting sides.
