Security Council Decides to Intensify Anti-Criminal Operation in Pankisi

(Tbilisi, September 12, Civil Georgia) – It was concluded at the State Security Council meeting today that anti-criminal operation in Pankisi should become more intensive, Nino Burjanadze, Parliamentary Chairperson, told MPs today at the Parliamentary session.

The security council directed law enforcers to isolate suspects and wanted people in Pankisi gorge. Citizens of other countries suspected in crime should be passed to the country of origin after essential procedures.

The State Security Council emergency meeting was held after the 9/11 statement of Vladimir Putin instructing Russian Defense Ministry to prepare a plan of combating terrorists in Georgia.

Russian authorities called the anti-criminal operation conducted by the Georgian law enforcers a “stage show.”
