IDPs Demand from the Parliament to Discuss Abkhazian Issue

(Tbilisi, February 13, Civil Georgia) – Displaced persons from Abkhazia are against the postponement of the discussion of Abkhazian issue by the Parliament. Legislators agreed to discuss the issue after couple of weeks.

IDPs say they will renew protest rally at Enguri bridge, in case the Parliament do not discuss the Russian Peacekeepers’ issue within three days.

Georgian Parliament adopted resolution last October, demanding from the government to withdraw Russian peacekeeping troops from the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone.

Georgian government agreed in January to prolong the peacekeepers’ mandate till June 30.

The part of the MPs, together with the IDPs from Abkhazia demand from the government to fulfill Parliaments resolution concerning the Russian peacekeepers’ withdrawal.
