President Criticizes MPs Having Voted Against Budget

(Tbilisi, February 4, Civil Georgia) – “MPs who voted against the 2002 budget are not patriots,” President Shevardnadze stated in his Monday radio broadcast on February 4.

Only the reformers faction Movement for Democratic Reforms and the Traditionalists rejected the proposed draft.

The Parliament approved the draft of the 2002 budget on January 31.

Reformers say that the approved budget encourages corruption.
