Joint Georgian-Russian Operation is not Planned in Pankisi
(Tbilisi, January 31, Civil Georgia) – Georgian State Security and Internal Affairs Ministries deny the information about Georgian and Russian law enforcers intending to pass joint operation in Pankisi gorge.
Russian news agency “Interfax” reported on January 31 that the joint operation will be passed in Pankisi to crackdown criminals and Chechen fighters harboring the gorge.
Secretary of Georgian National Security Council Nugzar Sajaia officially confirmed the presence of Chechen guerrillas in Pankisi gorge after meeting his counterpart Vladimir Ruashailo on January 30.
