Georgia Steers Away from Abkhazia Agreements?
(Tbilisi, January 25, Civil Georgia) – Georgian officials speak of revision of the previous agreements relating to the settlement in a secessionist province Abkhazia, especially the 1994 Moscow agreement.
The government does not plan to withdraw the military forces from the Kodori gorge, as recommended by the UN Secretary General report on January 18, 2002 based on 1994 Moscow agreement.
Malkhaz Kakabadze, Special Affairs Minister of Georgia told Civil Georgia today that “the agreements should be revised instead.”
The Foreign Miinster Irakli Menagarishvili states that “there is no talk of ‘revision’, we should just conduct inventarisation of the old agreements.”
