Parliament to Study Disinformation, Propaganda Challenges

A special working group to study the challenges posed by disinformation and propaganda will be set up in the Parliament, it was announced yesterday.

The group is to be led by the Deputy Chair of Foreign Relations Committee Nino Goguadze (GDDG). Opposition factions of the United National Movement and the European Georgia expressed readiness to participate.

According to MP Goguadze, in the coming months the group will study the extent of the challenge posed by propaganda across the country, efforts made by various governmental and non-governmental actors and would offer recommendations to the relevant agency.

She stressed, that the effort would particularly target the Russian propaganda. Most of the sessions of the group are expected to be closed for public.
