Georgia Labels Attack on Helicopter ‘Terrorist Act’

Georgia?s top leadership told foreign diplomats accredited in Georgia that an attack on a Georgian army helicopter carrying Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili was an act of terrorism staged by South Ossetian militias.

?This was not just a provocation. This was a terrorist act… Such an open [attack] is typical for terrorist organizations,? Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili told reporters.

Bezhuashvili was speaking after a closed-door meeting with a group of foreign diplomats that was also attended by President Saakashvili, Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili and Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili.
