Burjanadze Says Pro-Presidential Factions Obstruct Baker’s Plan
(Tbilisi, July 31, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze blamed various forces, including pro-governmental factions, for the Parliament’s failure to adopt the new Election Code by second hearing on July 30.
“I have done my best to put the draft code to voting. However, definite forces, including pro-governmental factions, are not willing to adopt Baker’s plan, as well as to hold fair elections in the country,” Nino Burjanadze said before the beginning of the Parliament’s special session on July 31. &n!
