Shaw’s Kidnappers Demand Ransom?

(Tbilisi, July 3, Civil Georgia) – Kidnappers of British citizen Peter Shaw demanded USD 2 million in ransom for Shaw’s release, TV company Rustavi 2 reports on July 3.

Georgian Interior Ministry does not confirm the information. “We have no official information concerning the report,” Interior Ministry official told the Civil Georgia.

In June during meeting of the British ambassador to Georgia with the State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze, the British envoy stated that British government will never pay any ransom to the kidnappers.

58-year-old director of the Agro-business Bank Peter Show was abducted in Tbilisi from his own car late at night on June 18.

Georgian law enforcers refuse to disclose any details concerning the investigation saying only that they have enough information to investigate the case successfully. The State Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania said that the abduction was well organized and only the well-trained group of criminals could carry it out.
