District Court to Discuss CUG’s Opposing Factions Case
(Tbilisi, May 17, Civil Georgia) – Today Tbilisi district court is to discuss appeals of Zurab Zhvania and Levan Mamaladze’s teams concerning the decision of the Central Elections Commission [CEC] on reject of their registration to participate in local elections in the name of the Citizens’ Union of Georgia [CUG] party.
Former Parliamentary Chairman Zurab Zhvania and pro-Presidential Levan Mamaladze, influential governor of Kvemo Kartli region try to participate in the local elections scheduled for June 2 in the name of the CUG.
CEC rejected appeals from the opposing factions in registration as it is unclear which of the faction has a legal right to submit appeal to the commission.
