CEC Starts Releasing Vote Tally Protocols
Central Election Commission (CEC) started posting vote tally protocols of the parliamentary elections from polling stations on its website at about 1:20am on Sunday.
Results from 814 precincts, which account for up to 22% of polling stations, were released as of 2:40am on Sunday.
According to these early results from 814 precincts, ruling GDDG party leads with slightly over 52.6% of votes, followed by UNM opposition party with 24.8%.
Alliance of Patriots is third with 4.6%, followed by Paata Burchuladze’s State for People – 4%; Irakli Alasania’s Free Democrats – 3.45%; Nino Burjanadze’s Democratic Movement – 3.2%; Labor Party – 2.8%.
Returns from the precincts are too few at this point to exactly estimate how seats may be distributed in the new Parliament.
A party has to receive at least 5% of votes in nationwide vote in order to win seats in the Parliament under the proportional, party list system.
77 seats in 150-member parliament are up for grabs under the proportional system.
73 majoritarian MP seats are contested in 73 single-mandate constituencies.
