Georgian FM Visits Montenegro

Georgian Foreign Minister, Tamar Beruchashvili, is holding meetings with leadership of Montenegro during a visit on June 4-5.

This is the first official visit of Georgia’s Foreign Minister to Montenegro.

She met President Filip Vujanović; speaker of parliament Ranko Krivokapic; PM Milo Dukanović; Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić, and Defense Minsiter Milica Pejanovic-Djurisic.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry said that Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as next year’s NATO summit in Warsaw was the focus of discussions.

“The two sides expressed readiness to intensify cooperation in framework of NATO aspirant countries,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry said. “As EU candidate country, Montenegro expressed readiness to share its experience with Georgia, including in terms of EU legislative harmonization.”

It also said that the two countries are ready to launch work on possible bilateral visa-free travel and free trade agreements.

Georgian parliament speaker, Davit Usupashvili, visited Montenegro in late April.
