Three New Deputies of Defense Minister Named
New defense minister Tina Khidasheli named on May 15 Davit Ebralidze, Anna Dolidze and Besik Loladze as her deputies.
Davit Ebralidze, who will oversee finances and procurements in his capacity of first deputy defense minister, served as deputy finance minister before May 2013, when he resigned, citing disagreements with Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri.
Anna Dolidze, who up until recently was a professor of law at the University of Western Ontario in Canada, was head of Tbilisi-based rights and legal advocacy group Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) in 2004-2006; her predecessor as head of GYLA was current defense minister Khidasheli. As deputy defense minister Dolidze will be in charge of social issues of service members.
Besik Loladze, who will serve as MoD’s parliamentary secretary in his capacity of deputy minister, was deputy chairman of the Constitutional Court and served as deputy justice minister for about a year till February, 2005.
Remaining two posts of deputy defense minister are still vacant.
