FMs of Denmark, Poland and Sweden to Visit Georgia
Danish, Polish and Swedish Foreign Ministers Martin Lidegaard, Grzegorz Schetyna and Margot Wallström, respectively, will make a joint visit to Georgia on April 14.
The three foreign ministers will meet President Giorgi Margvelashvili, PM Irakli Garibashvili, Parliamentary Chairman Davit Usupashvili and their Georgian counterpart, Tamar Beruchashvili, as well as civil society and opposition representatives, according to the Georgian Foreign Ministry.
“Georgia considers the joint visit of foreign ministers of the three European states as yet another important demonstration of firm support of our partners,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
Officials in Tbilisi say that the visit is also important especially in the view of EU’s Eastern Partnership summit in Riga in late May. Poland and Sweden were behind initiating the Eastern Partnership, which was launched in 2009. The foreign ministers of these two countries paid joint visits to Georgia twice – before the 2012 parliamentary elections and in October 2013.
On the sideline of the visit, Georgia and Polish foreign ministers will sign a bilateral memorandum, setting up, as the Georgian MFA said, “new format of cooperation” – Tbilisi Conference, which will serve as a platform for providing Warsaw’s further support to Georgia and sharing Poland’s experience of European integration.
