New EU Ambassador to Georgia Takes Office
New EU ambassador to Georgia, Janos Herman, presented his credentials to President Giorgi Margvelashvili on October 18.
Hungarian career diplomat, Herman has replaced on the post Philip Dimitrov.
“We have very close and rapidly developing relationship, but I will do my utmost to move this relationship further,” the new EU ambassador said on October 17. “We all understand the importance of the new phase in our relationship after the signing of the Association Agreement. We also know that in forthcoming years we have important opportunities to contribute to reforms and changes and at the same time development.”
Herman, who most recently served as EU’s special representatives to Central Asia, joined the Hungarian Foreign Ministry almost forty years ago and has held senior diplomatic positions there, including the State Secretary and permanent representative to NATO till 2005, when he joined the European Commission. He has also served as head of the EU delegation to Norway.
