PM Denies Plan to Reshuffle Cabinet

Prime Minister’s office said recent media reports about anticipated reshuffle in the cabinet are “not true.”

“The Prime Minister will appoint new chief prosecutor in coming days. No other changes in the government are planned,” reads the statement released by PM’s press office on January 4.

Chief prosecutor’s post is vacant after Otar Partskhaladze stepped down on December 30 following a scandal with his past criminal conviction in Germany.

Some reports in the Georgian media have speculated recently about anticipated replacement of prison system minister Sozar Subari by interior minister Alexander Tchikaidze; the latter denied the report as “absurd”.
