Geostat Reports 0.1% Annual Deflation in May
Georgia’s annual inflation remained below zero at -0.1% in May after 1.7% deflation in April, according to the state statistics office Geostat.
There was 0.7% inflation on the monthly basis in May.
Prices on food and non-alcoholic beverages increased 1.4% year-on-year in May after sixteen consecutive months of deflation on prices for this group.
Prices for fuel and lubricants dipped by 11% y/y in May; prices for healthcare services and for hotels and restaurants increased by 3.7% and 3.1%, respectively.
