Saakashvili Visits Georgian Troops in Afghanistan on Independence Day

President Saakashvili is in Afghanistan on Sunday to mark Georgia’s Independence Day with Georgian troops serving with ISAF mission in the Helmand province, the Georgian president’s administration said.
At Camp Leatherneck, the U.S. Marine Corps base in Washir district, Saakashvili addressed the Georgian troops and thanked them for their sacrifice and brave service, the president’s administration said.
He also met U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Walter L. Miller, commander of the Regional Command Southwest, who reiterated Georgian troops’ significant contribution to the ISAF mission, the president’s administration said.
