Package of Bills on Environment, Energy Ministries Passed

Parliament passed on March 25 with its third and final reading package of legislative amendments through which the ministry of environment protection regains those functions, which were transferred to the ministry of energy two years ago.

The Ministry of Environment was downscaled in functions in 2011 after some of its agencies, among them in charge of the use of natural resources and nuclear and radioactive regulations, were transferred under the subordination of the Ministry of Energy.

These functions will now go back under the Environment Ministry after the package of bills, endorsed by the Parliament, is signed into law by the President.
