CEC Reports of No Major Incidents

A spokesperson for the Central Election Commission, Eka Azarashvili, said at 4pm that election process was ongoing without any major incidents.

International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), which has 1,270 observers, said it had filed 34 complaints with precinct election commissions and 11 complaints with the district election commission.

ISFED reported multiple serious violations at one of the precincts of Akhalkalaki in Samtskhe-Javakheti region where voters were casting ballot without providing their ID cards; precinct commission members were agitating in favor of the ruling party; registrars were themselves marking an election subject on ballot papers before giving them to voters.

Among some of “the serious violations” reported between 11am and 2pm by another local observer organization, Transparency International Georgia were: four voters were not able to cast ballot in one of Batumi’s polling stations because in a voters list signatures were already put across their names; voters’ list for portable ballot box was stolen by unidentified individuals; “several voters” in one of the polling stations in Gardabani of Shida Kartli region asked for whom to vote and registrars at the precinct told them to mark number “5”, the ruling party’s number on ballot paper.

Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association, which also monitors elections, reported about problems with voter marking in several polling stations.
