List of Majoritarian MP Candidates
Below is the list of majoritarian MP candidates running in 73 single-mandate constituencies.
Ruling party United National Movement and Georgian Dream opposition coalition are the only political groups, which have nominated their candidates in all of the 73 constituencies across the country. Free Georgia, led by Kakha Kukava, initially had its candidates in 64 constituencies, but later withdrew its candidates from 12 constituencies in favor of Georgian Dream’s candidates; Christian-Democratic Movement – 61; Labor Party – 57; New Rights – 54. There are only two independent candidates.
77 seats in 150-member Parliament will be allocated under the proportional, party-list system among those parties and election blocs, which will clear 5% threshold, and remaining 73 seats will go to majoritarian MPs elected in single-mandate constituencies.
A majoritarian MP candidate winning more than others and more than 30% of votes will be declared the outright winner in the first round without the need for a runoff. Second round will be held in two weeks if none of the candidate garners more than 30% of votes in the first round.
Saburtalo constituency in Tbilisi is the most contested district in terms of number of candidates; 10 candidates are running there. The least contested constituency in terms of number of candidates is Adigeni in Samtskhe-Javakheti region where only ruling party and Georgian Dream candidates are running.
