Tbilisi Condemns Attack on British Embassy in Iran
Georgia has condemned an attack on the British Embassy in Iran as “the act of vandalism” and has called for actions to be taken against those responsible.
In a statement on December 2, the Georgian Foreign Ministry expressed “serious concern and indignation” with the assault on the British Embassy premises in Tehran on November 29.
Georgia, which has an embassy in Tehran, called on Iran “to ensure the protection of diplomatic and consular property and personnel of all diplomatic representations in Iran.”
Britain evacuated its diplomatic staff and closed its embassy in Tehran after protesters stormed the embassy compound. France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands withdrew their ambassadors from Tehran in protest.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed “regret for some of the unacceptable behaviors by few demonstrators”.
