Russia, Georgia to Hold WTO Talks on Oct.25
Georgian and Russian negotiators will meet again at Swiss-mediated TWO talks on October 25, the Georgian deputy foreign minister said.
The previous round on October 20, according to Georgian negotiators, again failed to bring a breakthrough in talks over Russia’s WTO entry terms launched with the mediation of Switzerland in March of this year.
Deputy Foreign Minister, Nino Kalandadze, said on Monday that Georgia was still insisting on international monitoring of movement of goods across disputed borders with Russia in breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
She said that Georgia was not pressed by its Western partners to give a green light to Russia’s WTO membership. “The international community understands very well that Georgia’s demands are legitimate,” Kalandadze said.
