Saakashvili in New York for UN General Assembly
President Saakashvili joined the Georgian delegation in UN headquarters in New York on September 20 where he plans to make an address at the General Assembly’s annual General Debate, his spokesperson said on Tuesday.
Spokesperson, Manana Manjgaladze, said that on the sidelines of the General Assembly Saakashvili plans bilateral meetings with counterparts from Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bolivia, Mongolia and Nigeria, as well as with Swiss President and Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey with whom Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze already met on September 19 in New York.
In his speech at the General Debates, Saakashvili will focus on Georgia’s position in respect of security of Georgia and of the region and would also raise the issue of ongoing political economic reforms in Georgia.
