Georgian Wine Festival
Georgia’s annual wine export was increasing gradually from USD 28.9 million in 2000 to USD 48.7 million in 2004 and picking in 2005, when the total value of wine export reached 81.3 million making its share in Georgia’s total export 9.4%; lion’s share was going into Russia. But in late March, 2006 Russia banned import of the Georgian wines and that year saw halving of Georgian wine exports to USD 41 million and the figure further fell to USD 29.1 million in 2007. The figure stood at USD 29.2 million in 2007; USD 36.8 million – 2008; USD 32 million in 2009 and USD 39.2 million in 2010 making 2.5% of total exports.
