Russia Deploys Fifth Coast Guard Boat in Abkhazia
The fifth Mangust type of coast guard boat docked in Ochamchire port on August 12 "to provide maritime security of Abkhazia," Apsnipress, an Abkhaz news agency, reported.
Russia’s Sobol and Mangust types of coast guard boats were first deployed in Abkhazia in December 2009 on the basis of the border agreement between Russia and the breakaway region.
Apsnipress also reported that the Abkhaz defense ministry would hold military exercises on August 16-27 for reserve forces in defensive battle planning.
“The exercises will promote increasing of mobilization readiness of military commissariats and reserve troops for fulfillment of mobilization measures,” Aslan Ankvab, acting chief of general staff of breakaway region, said.
