New Commander of Land Forces Appointed

Gigi Kalandadze, who will turn 30 in June, was appointed as a new commander of land troops of the Georgian armed forces by a decree of Defense Minister dated with May 6, it emerged on Thursday.

According to the Defense Ministry, Kalandadze, who previously was a commander of the 4th Infantry Brigade, had been an acting commander of the land forces since January 27, 2010, replacing previous commander Shmagi Telia.
