New Ambassador to Azerbaijan Appointed
Parliament approved on the post of Georgia’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Irakli Kavtaradze, on April 8.
Kavtaradze is a deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee for foreign relations. He has been a ruling party lawmaker since 2004.
Georgia’s former ambassador in Baku served on the post only for two months.
Ivane Noniashvili, who was head of the President’s press office, was approved on the ambassadorial post in November, 2009. He, however, surprisingly filed for resignation in January, 2010 for the reasons, which have never been made public.
