TV Newscaster Becomes President’s Spokesperson
Manana Manjgaladze, an anchor of the Imedi TV’s evening news program Kronika, was appointed as President Saakashvili spokesperson.
“Manana is one of the most interesting journalists. It is my honor that she agreed to take this post… This is tough job. From now on if Manana is speaking it means that the President is speaking,” Saakashvili said on November 23.
Although President Saakashvili at various times in the past had several spokespersons, the position has not been well-established. The most recent time, the post was held by Gela Charkviani from March 2005 to March 2006.
