Georgia Says Blasts Damage Power Line

Four towers of high-voltage power line Kartli 2 were damaged by remote-control explosive devices close to the breakaway South Ossetia’s administrative border, the Georgian Interior Ministry said on October 14.

It said that the blasts occurred at 2am on October 14 at the village of Tsagvli. The village is located few kilometers away from the breakaway region’s administrative border in north-west from Tskhinvali.

“Explosive in which TNT explosive was used was installed on the power line towers,” the Interior Ministry said and qualified the explosion as “terrorist act.”

Energy Minister, Alexandre Khetaguri, said: “Of course it was the act of sabotage.”

He said that despite of the incident electricity supply was not interrupted as alternative sources of supply were used.
