CDM Wants Rescheduling MP By-Elections
Christian-Democratic Movement (CDM), a leading party in the parliamentary minority group, called on the authorities on Saturday to postpone MP by-elections in three single-mandate, majoritarian constituencies from September 27 to next spring.
MP Levan Vepkhvadze of CDM said by-elections should be held after the reform of electoral code, simultaneously with the local elections on May 30, 2010.
Parliamentary Chairman, Davit Bakradze, said the authorities were ready to hold consultations on the matter from the next week.
By-elections will be held in the Tbilisi’s Chugureti single-mandate constituency, as well as in two provincial constituencies of Ozurgeti and Gurjaani.
