EU to Discuss Third Country Involvement in Georgia Monitoring in Autumn
The issue of involvement of non-EU member countries in Georgia monitoring mission was not discussed at July 27 meeting of EU foreign ministers, but it will be addressed in autumn, Carl Bildt, the Swedish foreign minister, whose country holds EU presidency, said.
EU decided on July 27 to extend its monitoring mission in Georgia for another year.
“The emphasis today was to send a message of continuity, stability – we are there and we will continue to be there and to do what is needed to do in order to make contribution to stability,” Carl Bildt said at a news conference in Brussels.
“Then after the summer there are other issues, including issue of third country participation that might be and will be on the table,” he said.
