Reports: EU to Delay August War Report

EU diplomats agreed on Friday to postpone a report by a mission probing into the August war for two months, a Brussels-based EUobserver.com reported.

EU-funded mission, led by Swiss diplomat Heidi Tagliavini, was initially to produce conclusions by July 31, 2009.

The decision, which has yet to be approved by EU ministers, comes after the request by Heidi Tagliavini citing that more time was required due to fresh material coming to light at a later stage, EUobserver.com reported quoting unnamed EU sources.

The aim of the mission is to investigate “the origins and the course” of the August war, including with regard to international law, humanitarian law and human rights, “and the accusations made in that context.”
