Georgian Church Delegation Visits Moscow
The delegation of the Georgian Orthodox Church left for Moscow on June 30 to hold talks with Russian Patriarch Kirill and officials from the Foreign Ministry.
“We will raise the issues of allowing our clergy, who have been expelled from Abkhazia and the Akhalgori district, to retun back ,” Metropolitan Gerasim of Zugdidi and Tsaishi, who leads the Georgian delegation, told reporters before departure.
The Georgian church delegation is accompanied by Zurab Abashidze, who served as Georgia’s ambassador to Russia before 2004. He also accompanied the Georgian church delegation during its previous visits to Moscow since the August war.
