“Speaking about the situation in Georgia, President Adamkus underlined that political forces supporting and opposing the government must restrain from further confrontation and respect the principles of democracy in their actions,” the Lithuanian President’s press office said in a statement.

The outgoing President Adamkus visited Georgia on June 23 and met with his Georgian counterpart, Mikheil Saakashvili.

The White House said that “a range of issues of common concern, including NATO issues” were discussed with his Lithuanian counterpart.
