Saakashvili: NSC Door Open for Opposition
President Saakashvili “requested” the opposition to accept his invitation in joining discussions in frames of National Security Council NSC on issues “crucial” for the country.
“It is not a monopoly of the authorities to have a say in the decision-making process of the most crucial issues for the country,” Saakashvili said in televised remarks made during the National Security Council session on June 11.
He said that he planned to convene NSC session after June 15, when the UN Security Council is expected to pass a new resolution on Abkhazia, to discuss situation in respect of Georgia’s two breakaway regions.
“I’ve seen today some political groups expressing their opinion [on upcoming UN Abkhaz resolution] in the street, but I request them to come here and express their opinion on this matter where this type of issues is being decided,” Saakashvili said. “Door of the National Security Council is open and we are waiting for them and are ready to maximally take into consideration their opinions.”
