New Head of National Guard Appointed

A lawmaker from the ruling party, Zurab Arsoshvili, has been appointed as new head of the Department of National Guard.

Arsoshvili, 31, who served in the Interior Ministry between 2000 and 2004, held various positions in the Financial Police between 2004 and 2008, including head of the Financial Police’s investigations unit.

He was Deputy Tbilisi Mayor for four months in early 2008, before becoming a lawmaker after the 2008, May early parliamentary elections.
