Russia’s State Duma Speaker Visits Sokhumi

Boris Gryzlov, chairman of the State Duma, lower house of the Russian Parliament, arrived in Sokhumi on May 18 for a one-day visit.

Abkhaz leader, Sergey Bagapsh and other Abkhaz senior officials welcomed Gryzlov – the highest ranking Russian official to visit Abkhazia since the region was recognized by Moscow – in the Sokhumi airport, Abkhaz news agency, Apsnipress, reported.

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, visited Abkhazia on September 14.
